Task & responsibility

 

The Junior Innovation Officer will be working for Innovation Centre Denmark (ICDK) in Seoul and hence Danish innovation interests in Korea. As such, the Junior Innovation Officer is a central resource for knowledge, contacts and operational ability related to non-commercial and commercial innovation opportunities in Korea for Danish businesses, R&D sector, authorities, cities and public stakeholders at large.

 

The Junior Innovation Officer will coordinate a portfolio of Nordic-Korean projects, and gather knowledge, partnership and operational ability related to commercial and non-commercial innovation and agenda setting activities. This will include developing ICDK understanding of partners’ priorities, partnership and community development and project coordination, communication and ensuring effective compliance with existing funding agreements.

 

The Junior Innovation Officer will have three main responsibilities:

 

1.    Coordinate existing Nordic-Korean project and partnership activity related to bio economy, prepare decision material for senior management and steering committee to drive the project forward, ensure and monitor project related progress, brand and communicate the partnership effort, develop new partnerships and activities supporting the green growth and the circular economy transition in Korea, and develop and grow innovation platform showcasing green growth and/or circular economy solutions in a Korean context.

2.    Map existing innovation practices to enable circularity within bio-economy and the city space, e.g. within design and material use, procurement, operations, and refurbishment, vis-à-vis global best practices and stakeholder expectations. Identify innovation solutions to address gaps and drive change specific around circular economy.

3.    Assist colleagues on commercial and non-commercial activities in the areas of Nordic collaboration, entrepreneurship and R&D, exploring specific green growth focused public private partnerships, educational cooperation and corporate business alliances.

 

To deliver on these responsibilities the Junior Innovation Officer will have the following main tasks:

 

·         MANAGE PROJECTS: To coordinate, manage and administrate projects including stakeholder management and project scoping, -planning, -implementation, -accounting and –reporting;

·         KEEP INFORMED: To stay informed on key developments in Korea related to innovation in general and in the specific sectors the Junior Innovation Officer is assigned. This includes overall expression of interest, framework conditions such as policy, legal, financial/investment and other issues that may affect the interest and ability of Danish stakeholders to explore related opportunities in Korea;

·         MAINTAIN CONTACTS: To maintain an active network with key stakeholders in the sectors assigned to the Junior Innovation Officer, including relevant authorities, organizations, research institutions as well as both local Danish and Korean companies in the sector;

·         PROVIDE ASSISTANCE: To quote, plan and carry out assistance to Danish companies and organisations in accordance with the values and quality levels set by the Embassy and in close cooperation with relevant colleagues and under the guidance of the Executive Director and Science & Innovation Counsellor of ICDK Seoul.

·         COMMUNICATE OPPORTUNITIES: To seek opportunities in Korea for the Danish business and research/ innovation ecosystem and report on these when and where relevant in close coordination with the team. This may be done broadly as news stories or sector reports on the embassy homepage or through targeted information to relevant Danish companies and research institutions;

·         EXECUTE EVENTS & VISITS: Contribute to the preparation and implementation of big and small events such as targeted webinars and ministerial visits under the direction of ICDK Seoul management team in areas outside the normal scope of the innovation section.

 

To succeed in the role, you:

 

·         Have a relevant academic background with an excellent track-record.

·         Have a sharp analyst with the ability to identify emerging trends and stakeholder expectation within circularity and translate them into a programme ambition and concrete action plans.

·         Are engaging and have a track record of driving consensus and moving stakeholders with diverse interests towards a common goal;

·         Possess project coordination and communication skills and work in a well-structured manner, enabling you to quickly adapt project plans and priorities to changing requirements, while continuing to drive projects and results including developing communication strategies, as well as adjust your style of communication to the audience;

·         Have strong communication skills and experience in developing targeted communication strategies, CMS platform management, and producing communications material.

·         Have prior experience with knowledge management and be able to develop a convincing top-down analyses, positions, and decision materials.

·         Have skills in community management focused on Korean-Danish relations and possess good social skills for networking and stakeholder management.

 

Organization:

 

The Junior Innovation Officer is a full time 12-month time-limited position with possibility for extension. The officer will be a part of the innovation section of the Embassy of Denmark in Korea with reference to ICDK Seoul Management team.

 

Start Date (tentative): 1 October 2021
