Team Description

The Localization Team is responsible for localizing content so that all our readers across the globe can enjoy our webcomics. Our work is not just about translation; it is about delivering the same experience, nuance, and fun that local readers are able to enjoy in their native language. Our editors, designers, and project managers work closely with one another to achieve this goal.

Job Description

As an English Linguist, you will work with other in-house creatives, project managers, freelancers, and vendors to finalize and polish our content for publishing and train new collaborators to produce their best work.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual who works comfortably with others, proactively manages priorities and projects, and has the right mix of organizational and communicative skills.

Only those who are currently based in Korea and able to work in our Seoul office will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Review and finalize content for publishing
  • Train new vendors and freelancers to meet RIDI's quality standards
  • Develop and improve localization guidelines
  • Manage external resources - hiring and training freelancers, conducting performance evaluations, etc.
  • Work with any and all internal stakeholders to check material status, quality standards, and any issues related to translating and editing

Qualifications

  • Solid grasp of American English grammar and punctuation rules
  • Ability to identify and resolve inaccuracies and inconsistencies as well as readability and tonality issues of localized translations
  • Native English speaker
  • Intermediate level of Korean (both reading and speaking)
  • Good communication skills to train and give feedback to company peers, vendors, and freelancers

Preferred Qualifications

  • More than 1 year of experience in localizing translated content
  • Thorough understanding of North American culture
  • Experience with webcomic localization
  • Comfortable with reviewing adult, BL content
  • Basic Photoshop skills
