Scope of Job:
Responsible for the strategic development, excellent execution and delivery of the LEGOLAND Korea Resort Public Relations strategy. Own the development and execution of best in class publicity for the Resort.

Key Objectives of this Role:
  • Lead the LEGOLAND Korea Resort (LLKR) PR to develop and deliver the Resort program, generating positive publicity for LLKR through a maximum number of communication channels, including TV, radio, print and online.
  • Manage and develop 1 direct report – PR Assistant
  • Delivery of the PR function, including day to day management of the PR agency. Responsible for briefing, guiding and evaluating the retained PR agency.
  • Establish crisis management system and process and lead on crisis communications at the Resort.
  • Support Divisional Director on all Community Relations including liaising with key local organisations, emergency services and local residents.
  • Plan and execute PR communication activies closely working with HOM and HOS: digest, prioritize, and deliver the requests and requirements related with PR from Sales and Marketing function
  • Act as spokesperson for all proactive PR stories and counter-active stories negative media coverages on LEGOLAND Korea Resort in proactive and strategic manner
  • Ensure strong liaison and collaboration with Merlin Entertainment Group (MEG) corporate communications team, COEX aquarium/Sea Lif Busan communication team, and other MEG attraction PR teams.
  • Weekend availability and out of hours working are required as part of this role.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Full budget responsibility for the PR budget, including monthly reporting, management of invoicing, and ongoing cost control to ensure costs remain within budget.
  • Responsible for the management of all editorial filming and photography on-site, including photo calls
  • Responsible for agreeing all press and VIP visits and stays to the Resort
  • Responsible for agreeing all press events and launches on-site
  • Responsible for internal communication including updates to the Merlin intranet and The Wizard updates.
  • Supporting Resort Operations, including PR office out of hours duty. (on call)
  • To be an excellent manager for the PR assistant, to set them up for success in their Merlin career.
  • Support all key HR and Health & Safety processes.

1. BUSINESS IMPACT/RESULTS
  • A strong PR programme is central to our overall Resort marketing strategy. PR is a strong driver of the commercial operation of the Resort, and the role is critical in delivering awareness and conversion into visitors. This supports the delivery of the agreed annual delivery of volume, revenue and EBITDA within the Resort
  • Continually develops the long term thinking to optimise all relevant PR channels.
  • Manages reputation and image of the Resort to minimise risks of adverse publicity.

2. CREATIVITY
  • The Communication Director will be responsible for producing publicity relating to key Resort PR programmes, activities and events (press briefings, special events, new ride and attraction launches).
  • Ensure the PR team produces high quality press materials, releases and internal Resort comms

3, COMMUNICATION
  • Handle day to day media enquiries, fulfilling information requests quickly and efficiently.
  • Be a first-rate communicator with self reliance, open mindedness, flexibility and the confidence to initiate and develop innovative PR projects and campaigns.
  • External PR and Community Relations including liaising with broadcast media contacts, external PR Agencies, key local organisations including Chuncheon city office and Gangwon Province office, emergency services and local residents.
  • Support for Divisional Director on all local community initiatives and planning applications
  • Internally – confidence in communicating with senior level stakeholders within LLKR and MEG.

4. DECISION MAKING & AUTONOMY
  • The Communications Director acts as the prime point of contact for the Resort with press and key external contacts. This role therefore requires confidence in decision making, combined with an ability to judge where issues need to be escalated within the business.
  • The role must balance autonomy and speed with the need to operate within existing approval processes of partners such as the LEGO¢ç Group.

5. APPLIED KNOWLEDGE & SPECIALIST SKILLS
  • An established contacts database within the leisure and tourism industry is preferable.
  • Strong relationships and contacts across a wide range of broadcast media

6. MANAGING RESOURCES
  • The Communications Director will be responsible for their own budget, maximising it through effective planning and control and continual search and identification for cost savings wherever possible. They must ensure costs remain within budget.
  • Manage 1 direct reports – PR assistant, and responsible for the training, development and day to day tasks of this direct report.
  • Responsible for the day to day management of the PR Agency

7. COMPLEXITY & PROBLEM SOLVING
  • Previous crisis management experience within high profile areas is essential.
  • Media training and briefing experience

8. LOCATION
  • Mainly in Seoul office and need to work in LEGOLAND Korea Resort HQ office in regular and ad hoc basis: ie. 3 days in Seoul office and 2 days in Chuncheon office
