RIDI is looking for Freelance Webtoon Editors who will be able to bring our webtoons to a global audience on our new comic platform, Manta.
This is a remote, freelance position. We are taking applications from Korea as well as abroad.
Job Description
Responsibilities: Editing the English translation of Korean webtoons to create the final, polished episode(s) ready for publishing.
This includes:
Correcting spelling and grammar
Localizing any overly literal translations for an American audience
Setting editorial direction (world-building, tone, story terms, etc.)
Correcting continuity issues (character, style, plot, etc.)
Communicating with the in-house staff and freelancer translators about relevant progress or issues
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification(s):
Native-level English
Excellent creative writing skills and a passion for storytelling
Impeccable attention to detail (may be responsible for several titles and keeping track of all the story elements that entails)
In-depth knowledge of various genres, niche topics, pop culture, and Korean-related themes
Preferred Qualification(s):
Fluency in Korean — enough to understand the meaning and tone of the original material
Experience in translating, proofreading, or editing webtoons
Familiarity with Slack and Google Workspace
Flexible availability (availability on weekdays, etc.)
Additional Information
Visa requirements:
If residing in Korea, only those with valid work visas will be considered.
Candidates residing abroad may apply for this position and do not require any specific documents.
Location: Remote Freelance Work
Days of the week & hours: Weekdays/weekends, depending on the publishing schedule. Due dates are to be agreed on prior to taking on assignments.
