All workstreams are working in parallel to implement actions and scale up of engagement and resources across the House. 

As a subject matter expert on wide range of sustainability topics, this role will be responsible for leading Chanel Korea sustainable mission, by driving the development and management of market sustainability action plan.

This roll will drive solutioning, testing, and integrating of sustainability practices into market operations, driving the change of the culture and ways of working, through hands-on involvement with market stakeholders, in collaboration with regional experts.

Lead Market Sustainability Strategy & Actions

• Working closely with market leadership team, lead the development of market sustainability action plan, with close alignment to global & regional roadmaps, policies & postures.
• Orchestrate the action & interactions with key stakeholders in the market, including sustainability committee/taskforce, manage market projects, and follow up on all sustainability actions. Lead definition of roles & responsibilities within the market relating to sustainability actions.
• Ensure timely communication of market actions, KPI performance & progress through utilization of global & regional performance monitoring & reporting dashboards.
• Co-develop regional priorities & roadmap with regional teams by providing market perspective and insights.

Sustainability Performance & Reporting

• Orchestrate readiness & implementation for relevant global (such as EU CSRD) & sustainability reporting requirements.
• Ensure the organization complies with all applicable requirements and identifies opportunities for proactive compliance and leadership in regulatory matters, in collaboration with legal team.
• Ensure accurate & timely data collection & submission for global & regional reporting.
• Lead market adoption of future global and regional sustainability performance management tool. Co-develop with regional team to incorporate market perspective in the tool & its implementation.

Integrating Sustainability into Market Operations

Lead local teams in their implementation of sustainability actions plans in respective areas, and integrate into operations, which includes:

• Collaborate with Finance team to find long-term renewable energy solution in the market, in line with Chanel’s Energy Policy.
• Support rollout of the regional energy management system project across all facilities. Drive energy performance improvement with facilities teams.
• Identify & prioritize decarbonisation opportunities across identified GHG hotspots within the market’s operation & value chain.
• Lead discussions with various landlords, identify and implement common sustainability initiatives and roadmaps
• Research, test and implement solution for circularity and waste management, across the business, including evaluation, selection, and due diligence of potential partners.
• Partner with indirect procurement on market roll-out of supplier ESG risk management programme, by working closely to engage with suppliers on improvement programme.
• Partner with social sustainability team on implementation of policies, organize & execute actions within our value chain.

Build the Sustainability Culture

• Partner with the Learning & Development team to promote a culture of sustainability within the organization through education & knowledge building, including training programs and workshops.
• Partner with People Experience team to drive sustainability initiatives and identify areas for external collaboration to raise awareness and build a shared commitment to sustainability among employees.
• Collaborate with Social Commitment leads to promote and drive interest for activities aligned to House Sustainability Ambition.

External Partnerships & Collaboration: Develop strategic collaboration & partnerships with identified partners, industry associations, experts & academia, and oversee effective community engagement with stakeholder groups.

Sharing of best practices & insights: Share and create best practices with relevant market & regional teams. Monitor and advice any relevant and upcoming sustainability trends (market, regulatory, and others) and contribute to the regional sustainability roadmap.

Innovation for Sustainability: Lead identification, pilot, and implementation innovative solutions to operations and processes that further progress the House sustainability ambition.

What you can bring to the team…

• Proven working experience on a wide spectrum of Sustainability topics, from retail, real estate, supply chain, or consulting industry.
• Demonstrated track record in change management, with strong understanding on strategies to influence behavior & organization change.
• Tertiary level academic qualifications in any field
• Proven experience working in complex, matrixed organizations with interactions with global and regional stakeholders, facilitating conversations on topics involving different subject matter experts; progress discussions, derive insights and translate these to action steps.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English; Confident and articulate presenter
• Able to build strong relationships and become a proactive, trusted advisor.
• Proactive, resourceful, takes initiatives and comfortable working independently.
• Interpersonal skills to motivate and work cooperatively with others.
• Highly developed communication skills, collaborative and learning agility.
• Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel; other analytics/visualization tools would be a bonus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with comfort working with numbers/quantitative models.
• Commercial acumen, connecting the dots to business solutions.
