Position Summary:
This position is responsible for soliciting new catering accounts and entertaining and sustaining relationships with existing accounts to meet and/or exceed revenue goals. He/She must have a strong knowledge of weddings and social events and understand the importance of prospection. This position will directly report to the Associate Director of MICE Sales and Director of MICE.
Duties also include preparing and presenting effective proposals, maintaining well-organized documentation and reports, and coordinating customer service requirements as appropriate. The Catering Sales Manager will also participate and may lead event meetings, sales, and other staff meetings.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Handle and follow up on inquiries for small meetings/events with (below 9 rooms per peak night) or without guestrooms. Follow up on leads by qualifying the customer¡¯s needs and dates for the event to determine if the business is a good fit for the property.
- Handle and follow up on inquiries for social events including weddings, family parties, and any social gatherings with or without guestrooms.
- Executes and supports the operational aspects of business booked (e.g., generating proposals, writing contracts, customer correspondence).
- Negotiate contracts and banquet event orders (BEO). Identify and price customer needs for the event, up-selling where possible, and closing the sale with the customer, collecting the customer deposit and signature on the BEO.
- Communicate event details/changes to all hotel departments, coordinating customer¡¯s needs with other property businesses and activities to ensure customers¡¯ expectations are met and the property operates efficiently.
- Present potential business to determine the best mix of customers for the hotel to attain budgeted revenues. Conduct meetings with clients and hotel staff to ensure each event meets the client¡¯s expectations.
- Finalize and detail catering plans for groups contracted by the assigned sales manager. Completely orchestrates these functions on-site or off-site. Empowered to do whatever it takes to solve problems.
- Prospect for new catering business using a wide variety of methods including phone calls, outside sales calls, trade shows, attending community functions, blitzes, internet prospecting, supplier partnerships, etc.
- Monitor blocked space to ensure the group is meeting its contractual obligations. Initiate the release of blocked space on the cut-off date to allow the sale of these rooms to other customers
- Maintain account files in the software system, ensuring accurate communication between client and hotel staff
- Build up the individual business plan and sales strategy on a yearly basis and present it to the internal stakeholders
- Review quarterly production goals and achievements with the Associate Director of MICE & Director of MICE to ensure the sales activities are in the right direction, and set weekly/monthly/quarterly goals based on the team¡¯s performance
- Set the tracking method on own to measure the individual performance and area to improve
- Monitors the effective resolution of guest issues that arise as a result of the sales process

- Interacts effectively with guests/clients, sales and kitchen, vendors, competitors, local community, catering associations, and other hotel departments in order to maintain guest satisfaction.
- Executes exemplary customer service to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty by assisting the customer and monitoring their satisfaction before and during their program/event.
- Serves the customer by understanding their needs and recommending the appropriate features and services that best meet their needs and exceed their expectations, while building a relationship and loyalty to
Minimum Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing or related field
- 5+ years of experience in Catering sales.
- Strong consumer & industrial knowledge for MICE/Hospitality/Entertainment business
- Fluent English written and verbal communication skills
