The Impact You¡¯ll Make

At Lam, as an EH&S Engineer, you're instrumental in developing, implementing, and monitoring environmental safety programs and policies. Ensuring compliance with regulations, you'll perform safety inspections, conduct trainings, and oversee hazardous waste vendors and processes. Your expertise spans to life safety, workplace ergonomics, and monitoring industrial health compliance. Acting as a liaison with regulatory agencies you'll not only stay current but also reinforce Lam's commitment to safety and environmental compliance.

What You¡¯ll Do

This role in the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team is responsible for implementing the occupational health and safety programs at the Lam Research, Korea Technology Center research and development (R&D) facility. This position provides strong technical support for the occupational health and safety programs including: the control of hazardous energy, respiratory protection, industrial hygiene, employee exposure monitoring, working at heights safety, pre-task safety planning, chemical safety, hazardous materials communication, ergonomics, and emergency preparedness and response.  Specific responsibilities include:  •    Manages the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and emergency response program. Responsibilities include coordinating drills and serves as the First Responder for onsite medial and emergency response events.  •    Knowledgeable of Korean regulations pertaining to occupational safety, incident reporting, construction safety, laboratory safety, chemical management, industrial hygiene, and hazardous materials management. Able to modify Lam global EHS program standards to conform with Korea regulatory requirements.   •    Manages the EHS training program, including developing training materials, developing training guidelines, and hosting in-person training.  Maintains training rosters and records and ensures employee training requirements under Lam EHS policies and regulatory requirements are maintained.  •    Responsible for contractor and vendor safety management.  •    Participates and leads permit-to-work and pre-task safety planning.  •    Conducts routine inspections and site observations, immediately corrects issues, conducts safety coaching, and proactively administers safety standards.    •    Leads safety committee meetings.  •    Responsible for the management of personal protective equipment (PPE) including selection, certifications, training, distribution, and field inspections.  •    Responsible for occupation health program coordination including agency correspondence, employee monitoring and medical clearance, workplace exposure monitoring, and ergonomic assessments.  •    Engages with regulatory agencies during routine inspections. Prepares safety-related permit applications, monitoring reports, and submits deliverables to the agency.  •    Assists with chemical inventory management.  Provide assurance that the facility does not exceed chemical storage thresholds.   •    Leads and supports incident investigations, root cause analysis determinations, and the development of preventative or corrective actions.  Conducts follow-up verification on completed actions.    •    Performs risk hazard assessments for new facility space, equipment, operations processes, and activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor¡¯s degree in engineering, occupational safety, environmental science, or another related field.
  • 1-3 years of EHS experience in occupational health and safety.
  • Poses occupational safety professional certification through the Korean government, and is eligible to be designated as a Safety Manager under the Occupational Safety & Health Act.
  • Intermediate or above English speaking and writing ability.
  • Able to adapt to diverse working conditions and be open and receptive to a fast-paced work environment.
  • Working knowledge of Korean safety and environmental regulations.
  • Must be comfortable working in a laboratory, clean room, and construction environments.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional EHS-related professional certifications such as air emission, wastewater, dangerous goods, industrial hygiene, high-pressure gas etc.,
