SUMMARY

The primary role and responsibility of the Head of People, Korea is to provide operational and strategic People partnership to the Korea business by acting as the Key Advisor for all People (HR)-related issues, taking overall responsibility for the day-to-day People matters, providing specialist support, advice and solutions on all People related matters.

The key roles and responsibilities of the Head of People, Korea are:
  • Act as a business partner to the Korea leadership team in achieving company goals and objectives within the CBRE business philosophy;
  • Work with North Asia People team to set strategic objectives; develop initiatives and programs associated with the objectives; and drive for the implementation of the programs.  S/he also works with Asia Pacific  L&D team to develop people with the right competencies to perform their roles such as culture, standards, business knowledge and skills;
  • Cooperate with other Shared Service units, including Finance, Compliance, Legal, IT, and Administration to ensure an integrated approach is taken in supporting the Company¡¯s goals;
  • Provide leadership, planning, and direction in People operations and activities, ensuring compliance with local legislation and market practice;
  • Provide People consultancy or coaching services to empower Managers, and develop People skills and knowledge for the Managers within CBRE.
  • Recruit, develop and manage a team of knowledgeable and experienced People practitioners at all levels; lead, plan and direct the activities of the Korea HR team;
  • Establish, implement and oversee People policies and procedures in accordance with company practice and local legislation; 
  • Analyze People data and trends, make recommendations to formulate, implement and oversee strategies to improve levels of staff engagement, employee relations and retention.
  • Work with Managers to understand and advise on strategic and operational recruitment, manpower planning, hiring needs and opportunities, redeployment opportunities
  • Ensure that the Company¡¯s policies and procedures on C&B comply with local legislation and market practice;
  • Drive and co-ordinate the annual People budget process in terms of headcount, remuneration, and promotion proposals;
  • Advise Managers on the Company¡¯s process for disciplinary action and ensure management compliance with Company guidelines, local legislation, and ethical standards; attend and document disciplinary meetings, and raise letters/reports;
  • Work with North Asia Talent, L&D team to identify learning and development needs for employees to support business strategies: 
  • Understand, analyse, make recommendations, and implement agreed action plans to manage all areas of risk associated with People and employee activities;

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE 
  • Fluent in spoken and written English;
  • Client-oriented with a high degree of integrity, discretion, and customer focus, demonstrating an ability to provide expert advice on People/HR issues, make sound decisions and provide recommendations; maintain and encourage discretion and confidentiality;
  • Highly organized with administration and logistical skills, attention to detail and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities;
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically with a high level of conceptual, innovative, analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Proficient in planning and executing People strategies in a timely and cost-effective manner;
  • Ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization with strong presentation skills, and the ability to prepare high-standard written reports;
  • Ability to work cooperatively as part of the senior management team, in partnership with peers;
  • Strong detailed knowledge of employment legislation in Korea;
  • A minimum of ten years experience in effective HR functions including at least five years¡¯ experience in managing and leading a multi-functional HR team;
  • At least three years experience in providing expert advice to senior management and working with senior leadership within multi-national corporations;
  • Experience within the real estate industry or similar service-based industries would be an advantage.
