The Production Engineer is responsible for leading the Germane production process improvement supporting Germane operations shift and production manager. The purpose of this role is to coordinate the Germane operation team's effort in applying manufacturing skills to optimize manufacturing operations, resolve problems and enable safe and efficient production of quality products. Production engineer leads continuous improvement projects and updates documentation and provides knowledge transfer to the operators ensuring it is being used. The expectation is that the successful candidate will start the job by learning the leadership and operational systems in the SJ site. The Production Engineer is expected to be able to interact effectively with a wide variety of teams to implement change effectively and sustain the gains. The Production Engineer is expected to be able to thrive in a fast paced and very dynamic environment.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Plan, direct, and control day-to-day manufacturing activities in order to safely and efficiently execute production schedule

• Understands key Health, Safety and Environmental parameters including reactive chemical concerns and process safety requirements.
• Understands the customer specifications and expectations for the product.
• Manage adherence to established work instructions to ensure safety and first-pass quality performance.
• Develop, monitor and control production standards. Develop actual vs standard production reporting to drive continuous improvement
• Drive continuous improvement activities: implement change management and best practices as required
• Coordinate raw material needs with Planner, Purchasing and Shipping Departments.

• Creates and updates documentation including learning resources and Standard Operating Procedures for the plant. Provides knowledge transfer to the operators and ensures it is being used.
Required Qualifications:
• BS in Chemical Engineering
• New or 3+ years experience in process, production, or project engineering
• Chemical, food, or pharmaceutical plant operations experience
• Experience working with highly hazardous chemicals at a manufacturing facility
• Working knowledge of PLC and Process Automation control systems.
• Able to learn technical chemical processes quickly in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
• Able to effectively work with team mates in Maintenance, R&D, Process Development, Engineering, Quality and HSE (Health, Safety and Environment)
Preferred Qualifications:
• Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification or equivalent knowledge
• 5S and Lean Manufacturing experience
• Process hazard analysis training; LOPA and HAZOP
• Improvement project or capital project experience
• Self-starter with the ability to perform well under pressure and changing priorities
• Ability to communicate concisely and effectively in written and verbal formats with stakeholders at multiple levels in the business.
