The Impact You’ll Make

This position is part of the SET (Supplier Engineering and Technology). SET is an organization that is innovative in manufacturing technology, materials and supply chain design. In this position, you, as a supplier engineer will play a vital role for Handler assembly suppliers. You will have the opportunity to work across organization functions to resolve technical, quality and production challenges, as well as opportunity to develop excellence in product design and manufacturing at supply chain. Candidate should be a result-driven, self-starter possessing strong interpersonal skills with a strong focus on supporting customers. This individual should also possess the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, to adapt to changing priorities and to work independently in a close-knit team setting. This position performs the role of Supplier Engineer in supporting suppliers who build Handlers. Handlers are ATM and VTM system supplied by Lam for customers. This position performs supplier management for Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery for Lam. The role offers Technical, Engineering, Mfg and Test support at suppliers. This role also does program/project management and cross functional team alignment functions for key initiatives in the SET Group. SET is a global organization that innovates in manufacturing technology, materials technology, and supply chain quality for next generation semiconductor process equipment. This position performs the lead role for Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical system assembly/troubleshooting and provides Engineering/Technical solutions to suppliers who are making Lam Products. 

What You’ll Do

• •    Influencing decisions and company driven objectives within internal and external groups to achieve company goals  •    Work with Lam Product Group Engineering organizations and suppliers in development and product transition for Handler system  •    Interfacing with key teams within Lam including technical product groups, account teams and global operations as a representative of SET  •    Coordinate and support investigation of key quality defects of components from the customers and/or field service team to drive corrective actions and continuous improvement  •    Developing suppliers to meet Lam quality standards  •    Drive the improvement of the suppliers’ quality and manufacturing processes to ensure product quality, cost, and on-time-delivery •    Act as liaison/technical lead for cross functional projects to include Build Verify and Production Readiness Review  •    Provide technical support in system assembling, testing and FQA to Handlers suppliers in Deposition and Etch product deployment and transition •    Build manufacturing jigs and fixtures for Electrical/Electronics/Mechanical assembly   •    Build key relationship with the account team, customer, suppliers and factory members  •    Able to provide key technical analysis for problem solving process •    Interface with supplier personnel and provide technical solutions to Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical system assembly •    Leads, and is personally accountable for, high-profile project timelines and milestones. •    Continuously working on process improvement and developing Best Known Methods •    Work closely with test engineers to provide an optimum trouble shooting methods •    Perform standardized supplier quality audits and administer supplier quality scorecard for existing suppliers to promote continuous improvement.

Who We’re Looking For

• •    Creative thinking and strong problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities, including experience in the areas of electrical/mechanical/test engineering  •    Solid understanding of electro-mechanical assemblies (Power Box, Loadport, Robot, Vacuum chamber, ETC.,) •    In-depth understanding of equipment and component manufacturing processes of Semiconductor equipment system (Wafer handler, Process module, EFEM, vacuum systems) •    Basic understanding for workmanship standard especially, assembly process, cable routing, sheet metal, Machining, welding and powder painting  •    Skills in understanding of drawing interpretation and electric circuit-diagram (electrical schematic) •    Experience in supplier process development & quality management (FMEA, QMS, supplier audit, scorecard, FAIR and, etc.) •    Experience in supplier development, transition and qualification to support localization activity including sub-tier supplier qualification •    Understanding of failure analysis and problem solving •    General understanding of statistical process control  •    Ability to learn new skills quickly with minimal guidance •    Ability to travel up to 25% (International & domestic travelling)

Preferred Qualifications

•    English preferred •    Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills •    Electro-Mechanical system design and manufacturing •    Functional understanding of Hardware Instrumentation & Controls. •    Handler systems (ATM + VTM) engineering and integration and semiconductor fab knowledge •    Solid understanding of various problem-solving methodologies to include 8D/5 why •    Project Management / Team Lead experience •    Minimum 8 years’ experience in managing technical programs and projects, preferably in the Semiconductor Industry •    Experience with working with global suppliers •    Experience with working with contract manufacturers or remote factories who build the semiconductor equipment assembly •    Ability to align cross-functional teams across multiple departments to achieve goals  •    Ability to track and organize multiple concurrent activities •    Experience/Knowledge for sheet metal, Machining, welding and powder painting

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
