Director/Sr Director of AME Automation
This is a very exciting time at ¤·¤·¤·! We¡¯re looking for an experienced AME Automation Director/Sr Director to help support the built of new tools and equipment for the company¡¯s next generation battery factories. The position will report to the COO.
Job Summary: We are seeking an accomplished executive to lead Automation, Manufacturing Equipment Engineering (AME), and installation for advanced Silicon-based battery production lines. This role will oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of manufacturing equipment—from design and fabrication to installation, commissioning, and ramp-up—ensuring operational excellence, scalability, and innovation in line with the company¡¯s global growth strategy. As a senior executive, this leader will define the long-term automation roadmap, build and manage strategic supplier partnerships, and drive world-class manufacturing capabilities to strengthen our competitive advantage in the global battery industry.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
• Define and execute the company¡¯s global automation and manufacturing equipment strategy for battery production.
• Provide executive leadership for AME teams, driving innovation and adoption of advanced automation technologies.
• Establish global best practices for equipment design, installation, and operational efficiency.
Equipment Design & Fabrication
• Oversee the design at cost, development, and fabrication of next-generation production equipment tailored to high-volume lithium-ion battery manufacturing.
• Ensure robust design standards across mechanical, electrical, controls, and software systems including mechanical dicing
• Lead partnerships with global equipment suppliers and technology providers.
Installation, Commissioning & Ramp-up
• Lead large-scale equipment installation and commissioning programs across domestic and international manufacturing sites.
• Drive flawless ramp-up and stabilization of new production lines.
• Establish robust systems for issue resolution, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
Project & Resource Management
• Own executive accountability for budgets, schedules, and resource planning for all automation and installation projects
• Build and lead cross-functional teams spanning engineering, operations, R&D, and quality to ensure successful project delivery.
• Manage and evaluate strategic vendors and contractors for performance, cost, and innovation.
Global Collaboration & Influence
• Partner closely with executive leadership, including Operations, R&D, and Product teams, to align equipment strategy with business objectives.
• Represent the company with global partners, customers, and stakeholders to strengthen technical and commercial relationships.
• Champion a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence across global manufacturing sites.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
• Bachelor¡¯s or Master¡¯s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field (MBA preferred).
• 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing equipment design, automation, and installation.
• Proven executive-level track record in battery, semiconductor, automotive, or display industries.
• Extensive experience in AME or global high-volume manufacturing environments.
Technical Expertise
• Deep knowledge of automation systems (PLC, robotics, MES/SCADA, Industry 4.0 solutions).
• Strong background in equipment layout design, process FMEA, DOE, and large-scale ramp-up execution.
• Experience with smart factory initiatives, digital twins, and AI-driven optimization preferred.
Leadership & Interpersonal Skills
• Hands-on leadership in establishing new gigafactory or high-capacity production sites.
• Exceptional leadership and organizational management capabilities.
• Strong global collaboration and communication skills (English required; additional languages such as Chinese/Korean a plus).
• Demonstrated ability to build high-performance teams and drive transformational change.
• Experience leading global supplier development and strategic technology partnerships.
