(Seoul) Senior Applied Research Scientist
Lunit, a portmanteau of ¡®Learning unit,¡¯ is a medical AI software company devoted to providing AI-powered total cancer care. Our AI solutions help discover cancer and predict cancer treatment outcomes, achieving timely and individually-tailored cancer treatment. 🗨️ About the Team You¡¯ll join Lunit¡¯s AI Foundation Team, a cross-functional group of applied scientists and engineers building the next generation of multimodal medical foundation models. The team leads national and international collaborations—spanning hospitals, universities, and AI startups—to develop agentic clinical reasoning systems that integrate text, imaging, and structured clinical data. You will have an unique opportunity to collaborate with top members of the AI community through a Korean government–funded initiative to establish sovereign medical AI eco-system. At the job, you will be building the Chain-of-Evidence (CoE) frameworks and building a foundation model that can reason across various scales of data. You¡¯ll be surrounded by domain experts across AI, medicine, and systems engineering, operating in a high-trust, high-impact environment where research rapidly becomes production. 🗨️ About the Position As an Applied Research Scientist, you will lead the design and deployment of RAG pipelines and knowledge-base infrastructure that power our chain-of-evidence concept—the backbone of verifiable, citation-based medical reasoning. Your work will span prototype to production: data ingestion, embedding and indexing architectures, model fine-tuning, and real-world evaluation within our clinical partners. You¡¯ll collaborate with AI researchers, AI engineers, infrastructure specialists, and medical partners to deliver retrieval and reasoning components for our multimodal foundation model stack. The role suits someone who thrives at the intersection of research and engineering—able to both design novel algorithms and ship reliable systems that clinicians and researchers can trust.
